Waiting on Him

Why Waiting Is So Difficult

We live in a world where everyone seems to be in a hurry. It’s as if humanity is suffering from “microwave syndrome.” We want everything instantly—our prayers answered, our dreams fulfilled, and our problems solved. Waiting has become one of the most difficult disciplines of the Christian life.

Yet it is this relentless haste, fueled by our sinful nature, that has led to countless heartaches and disappointments. Why? Because we often overlook one of the most important principles God uses to guide us through the maze of life: waiting on Him. What feels like a delay to us is often God’s way of preparing us for something far greater than we can imagine.

Psalm 46 paints a vivid picture of a world in turmoil. Mountains crumble into the sea, the earth shakes, and nations are in uproar. Such scenes can easily cause fear to grip our hearts and leave us wondering what tomorrow may bring.

Yet in the midst of the chaos, God offers a powerful assurance: He is still in control. Why? Because He is sovereign over all creation. Nothing catches Him by surprise, and nothing is beyond His power.

So the next time it feels as though all hell is breaking loose around you, and life’s storms seem overwhelming and your circumstances appear impossible, remember these timeless words:

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Psalm 46:1

And when fear threatens to consume you, hear God’s gentle assurance:

“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10

When the world shakes, you can stand firm because the God who holds the world in His hands is holding you too.
